Sitting outside
Having a cigarette.
I take a moment to glance at the sights.
I see mountains, One, Two, Three, Four.
Layers of them, the fourth crowned in snow.
Above these giants: soft wisps of clouds.
The sun setting casting purple and red on all it touches, renders the beasts
harmless when they’re glowing.
Pink and red the new war colors.
This land Is beautiful.
And when I see These sights,
I think of home.

Pawns
I feel Like a pawn In this war of
kings.
Used and sacrificed so life may go on for the king and queen.
Gallant And brave, knights falling To their death, unselfish and courageous
their deeds.
Life In its very essence Is precious. Yet the rooks and the bishops do not
understand the sacrifice pawns.
